Welcome to my blog! My name is Adam Ritchie. I have recently completed my Master of Arts (Journalism) degree at the University of South Australia. I also have an undergraduate degree in Information Technology.
When I finished Year 12 back in 2007 I was faced with a decision most have to make in life:
What on Earth am I going to do now?
I had two ideas in my mind. The first was journalism. I’d always enjoyed writing and I always enjoyed entertaining. Thankfully I seemed to have a knack for both (at least in my mother’s totally objective opinion). Unfortunately, at the time the general vibe about the print media and job opportunities created the same feelings seen around Wall Street circa 1929. With this in mind I decided to study Computer Science.
Three years later I had a shiny degree in Computer Science (the name of the degree changed to Information Technology. I’m more partial to the title “Computer Science” myself. Doing a course in “Information Technology” sounds like something offered to seniors aged eighty and above. Or Librarians. “Computer Science” sounds like something a Bond villain could use).
But in the back of my mind was this gnawing sensation. I knew what I really wanted to do was write. So I figured I’d give it a shot. You know, chase your dreams, seize the day, be all you can be, that kind of thing. So here I am.
